Nicole “Nikki” Blonsky (born November 9, 1988) is an actress and singer American nominated for Golden Globe awards. She played the heroine Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray (2007), a musical film adaptation of the 1960′s , made in the year 2007 .Nikki was born and raised in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, daughter of Karen Smeja, a teacher assistant, and Carl Blonsky, a municipal worker in charge of controlling water pollution in the district. Although his father is Jewish, was raised a Catholic by his mother. Before acting debut of Hairspray , Blonsky worked at the ice cream chain Cold Stone Creamery.
Received all her training in drama and music in high school in Great Neck Village School in June 2005. wanted to be Tracy Turnblad when she saw Hairspray on Broadway . He then tried to get the role, but was told she was too young. has stated that his favorite singers are Patsy Cline and Cass Elliot .
It is also a poet and has published his works, particularly a poem in honor of Jonathan Lee Ielpi, a member of the Fire Department of New York and a volunteer firefighter in the fire “Vigilant” in Great Neck, who died in the tragedy of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Nikki used to care for the children of the family of Jonathan.
